INFORMATION FOR PARENTS

WET WEATHER TRAINING AND NOTIFICATION

The decision to call off training on rain days will only be decided at 5 pm. Decision will be taken by the club’s Administrator and the Head Coach. If the rain stops at 5 pm, training will resume at 5:15 - 5:30 pm and will end 60 minutes later. If rain still continues at 5 pm, a “No Training” will be declared and a sign will be posted at the gate. In any case of cancellation, a make-up training will be followed automatically the following Sunday.

In any instance, trainers will be around to advise parents and players. If training is cancelled, they will retain responsibility for supervising the players until they have been collected or in cases where the child goes on his own, parents will be notified of the cancellation via the child’s respective coaches.

If it rains during practice, training will be curtailed and the children will be taken to a sheltered location.

Parents please take note:
  • Cancellations due to wet weather can be obtained by calling the following – only after 5 pm.

PARENTS CODE OF CONDUCT

Parents have a great influence on children’s enjoyment and success in football. All children play football because they first and foremost love the game – it’s fun.

It is important to remember that however good a child may become at football within our club it is important that we reinforce the message to parents that positive encouragement will contribute to:

  1. Children enjoying football
  2. A sense of personal achievement
  3. Self-esteem
  4. Improving the child’s skills and techniques

Please remember that a parent’s expectations and attitudes have a significant bearing on a child’s attitude towards:

  1. Other players
  2. Volunteer officials
  3. Coaches
  4. Game officials
  5. Spectators
  6. Opponents

At WJFC we want to ensure that the parents are always positive and encouraging towards ALL of the children and not just their own.

We therefore encourage you to:

  • Applaud all children as well as your own
  • Avoid coaching your child from the sidelines during training or games – be a volunteer coach if you want to do so.
  • Respect the coach and other volunteer officials, they are volunteers giving their personal time to provide a recreation for your child. (Criticism of the training method in a constructive manner is highly welcomed.)

The following are prohibited at all time (training ground and game venues):

  • Smoking, using drugs and drinking alcohol
  • Using profanities or display any form of unruly and negative behaviour
  • Striking, shoving, threatening to strike coaches, club officials, players, game officials or spectators
